Good news for drivers as M54 repair work moves to hard shoulder

Emergency roadworks been carried out on the M54 will be confined to the hard shoulder from this afternoon.

Highways England have confirmed the work between junctions 3 and 4 will be moved to the hard shoulder later today.

The agency also confirmed the roadworks are drawing to close.

However, the work between the Cosford and Wolverhampton exits has overrun due to the recent bad weather.

Closures have been in place for two weeks while emergency work to replace damaged concrete slabs is carried out.

Highways bosses shut the stretch between junction three at Albrighton and junction two at Wolverhampton on Friday and over the weekend.

It was to carry out essential repair work to cracks found on the road surface.

The section was due to be reopened at 6am yesterday, but because of poor weather conditions over the weekend the work was not completed and one lane remained closed for the morning rush hour.

The other had a 50mph speed restriction in place.
