Extra park and ride buses for Shrewsbury's Carols In The Square

An "extra" bus is set to leave each of the three Park & Ride sites - at Oxon, Meole Brace and Harlescott - at 30-minute intervals from 6.50pm until 8.50pm. The last bus will leave the town centre at 9pm.

But a spokesman said people should be aware that these services may run later than advertised, as roads will be closed for Carols in the Square.

He said Shropshire Council and Arriva have agreed the one-off extension of the service following this week's flooding in the town, adding: "It is hoped that people unable to use the town centre car parks this week will take advantage of the extended service and visit the town for late night shopping and Carols in the Square."

It also comes after anger this week about queues and delays in Shrewsbury caused by the park and ride system failing to keep up with demand on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
