Water from the River Severn has come over on to the footpath and fields of Dale End Park.

But officials say the town is not at risk of flooding.

Russell Griffin, a spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "We're still dealing with water coming down from the Welsh hills.

"The river levels will be going up and down but it won't be high enough to flood."

In Shrewsbury Frankwell long stay car park has reopened.

A flood warning for the River Severn at the Showground and The Quarry has been lifted after Shrewsbury peak levels were reached last night.

The county has been given a yellow warning from the Met Office for rain but it is expected to ease off as the week progresses.

There is also a flood warning for the River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook, near Oswestry.

Motorists were also being reminded that that Llandrinio Bridge, between Welshpool and Oswestry, remains closed due to flood damage and that other roads could be affected by high water.

It comes after weeks of wild weather as two storms swept over the county with high winds and heavy rainfalls.
