A spate of crashes took place on rural roads in the south of the county, with two resulting in overturned cars.

Patients were taken to hospital after two of the three accidents yesterday.

Injuries were not thought to be serious in either case.

The first crash involved a Fiat low-loader lorry and an Alfa Romeo car, which overturned, on the B4176 near Hilton, Bridgnorth, at about 8.45am. One casualty was treated at the scene before being taken to Princess Royal Hospital.

The second accident involved one car that overturned on a country road at Boraston, between Tenbury Wells and Cleobury Mortimer, at 10am.

Jamie Arrowsmith, West Midlands Ambulance spokesman, said: "There was one female patient who avoided injury. She was assessed and discharged at the scene."

Then, at noon, there was a two-car collision on another country road at The Down, near Bridgnorth.

Mr Arrowsmith said: "When the call came in there was mention of one patient walking wounded and we have transferred them to to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."

He said there were no details on the nature of the patient's injuries, but they were not thought to be serious.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue attended all three accidents but nobody needed to be cut free and firefighters simply made the vehicles safe.
