West Mercia Police said facial reconstruction work is still being carried out by experts in a bid to find out more about who the man was.

Sarah-Jane Lynch, force spokeswoman, said: "The next update is likely to be when the facial reconstruction is completed, but this can take a while."

Two universities are working with detectives at the force by using the skull to create an e-fit of what the man may have looked like.

The find was just off the eastbound slip road at the junction for Priorslee and Shifnal in August. across the carriageway from the motorway services.

Police said the remains, which belonged to a man, were found around 50 yards from the slip road, down a steep bank and in heavy undergrowth.

A full DNA profile of the man has also been obtained and detectives believe he was between 5ft 7in and 5ft 11in.

The man is also known to have been wearing a black 'dare2be' outdoor jacket, a navy blue George at Asda T-shirt, and dark-coloured Nike tracksuit bottoms.

Two silver bracelets, including one thought to be a 'Kara' bangle usually worn by Sikhs, were found within the clothes at the scene.

The M54 junction three slip road was closed for around 24 hours once the skull was discovered.

Officers then closed the slip road again in September for several days, while officers carried out further investigations.

It was during this search further human remains were discovered .

At an inquest in Shrewsbury, which opened on September 7, Shropshire coroner, John Ellery said the cause of death was not found during a post mortem on the remains.
