Woman has bag snatched by group of men in Newport on Boxing Day

A group of men snatched a woman's handbag as she was walking in Newport on Boxing Day night.

The woman, in her 30s, was walking along Upper Bar in Newport when she was approached from behind by three men.

The men then pulled her bag from her shoulders and also attempted to take her iPhone from her hand causing her to drop it.

They then made off in the direction of the town with just her handbag.

The woman was not injured during the theft and her handbag was recovered nearby - although cash had been taken from it.

The theft happened at around midnight between Boxing Day and December 27.

All three men were described as black and were wearing dark-coloured clothing.

One of the men was believed to be around 30-years-old, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall, clean shaven with short dark hair.

Anyone who witnessed the theft is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 35s of December 27.
