Driving in Telford - It's enough to send you parking mad!
[gallery] Riskily perched on a raised pavement, abandoned on the corner of a junction and even left taking up three spaces – these photographs show the parking feats attempted by some of Shropshire's drivers.
Photographs posted on Facebook demonstrate the amusing, and often dangerous, array of parking disasters on the county's roads.
The images have been shared by social media users determined to shame those who have committed what they consider to be the worst parking offences. They were posted on the popular Facebook page 'Telford's Worst Drivers' – which has almost 6,000 likes and tens of thousands of comments and shares.
And similar pages have taken the internet by storm across the country – with heated debates being sparked about the rules of the road.
And some of the motorists named and shamed have even hit back by posting on the site with comments such as: " I am proud to say this monster is my car. I think it's amazing how some people can take such offence to something so simple as someone parking in two spaces."
Another photo of a red car parked in the middle of a car park, but not in any of the parking bays, also provoked a response from the driver. She said: "It was the brakes though, people. Honest accident. Sorry to everyone I got in the way of."
Experts such as the Ford Motor Company claim many drivers find it difficult to park as cars have got steadily larger, while parking spaces have remained the same.
Another common debate sparked by users of the page includes those without children who decided to park in a 'parent and child' space.
One post read: "Couldn't fit her Ka in a normal space, needed the extra room for her little invisible loved ones. She should really have car seats for them but guess they are invisible also."
The parking offences have been snapped from locations across the borough including the Wrekin Retail Park, the Aga car park, Southwater, Wellington and the Forge Retail Park.
Vinnie Eaves, another follower of the page, posted: "If you don't want to be shamed in future, learn how to park. Because now if you park like this someone just might park so close to your car that you can't get in it and then you can experience the inconvenience and frustration you cause others."
