Man and woman assaulted at Telford pub New Year celebrations

A man and woman were assaulted at a Telford pub in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The woman was attacked inside The Crown Inn pub in Dawley between midnight and 1am following a verbal altercation, police said.

A man then tried to intervene and was also assaulted. He was left with facial injuries caused by an unknown object and taken to hospital.

West Mercia Police today launched an appeal for witnesses.

A 43 year-old man from Telford has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and wounding with intent in connection with the incident. He was released on bail until January 29.
