Video and pictures: Dog and horse rescued by Shropshire fire crews

[gallery] A dog had to be rescued by firefighters today after falling into a disused quarry near Ludlow.

The border collie managed to escape injury despite falling into the quarry at Dhustone Lane, Clee Hill, near Ludlow.

It happened at about 2.30pm when firefighters from Ludlow were called to the scene.

They used a short extension ladder to rescue the dog before it was reunited with its owner.

Meanwhile, firefighters were also called to rescue a horse which is believed to have got stuck in mud in Oreton, near Cleobury Mortimer, at about 2.30pm today.

Crews from Cleobury Mortimer and Wellington were called to the scene and used specialist animal rescue equipment to help the horse, called Khaheer, in a two-hour operation.
