The gang gained entry to the house in the Crown Street area of Dawley through an insecure door before making off in a silver Volkswagen Golf.

Police have not revealed if anything was taken during the raid, which happened at about 10.30pm on Thursday.

But they have appealed for the public's help to trace the men.

Detective Inspector Jason Everett, of West Mercia Police, said: "We are currently investigating this incident and are keen to talk to anyone who witnessed it.

"We would like to reassure the public that there is no increased threat to them and to contact police if they have any useful information."

One of the men is described as white, 6ft tall, with blue eyes and of stocky build.

He is believed to have been wearing a royal blue sweatshirt, grey baggy tracksuit bottoms and white trainers and may have a Birmingham accent. Call 101, quoting incident number 667s of January 7, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
