Police have issued the warning after receiving reports of fake £20 notes being used in the area.
The North Shropshire Safer Neighbourhood Team tweeted: "Be aware that we have had reports of fake £20 notes being used in the Whitchurch area. The notes look very genuine and pass the UV test.
"They are different in texture and have a duller appearance than the real thing. This is having a negative impact on local businesses.
"Possession with intent to pass as the real thing has a maximum prison sentence of 10 years."
Anyone with any information should call police on 101.
