Telford mother's grief as son's grave is attacked
A mother has spoken about her heartbreak after her son's grave become the target for vandals.
Macauley Stevens of Madeley, Telford said she wanted her son's resting place to be a place of "happiness and remembering". However, trinkets have been stolen from the grave of Kayston Stevens' grave, which is at Castle Green Cemetery in Ironbridge.
The 19-year-old said the grave has been a target for vandals since August 2015.
The mother-of-three said she has been forced to tie the trinkets down in a bid to stop them from being destroyed or moved.
She said: "I just want my son's place of rest, where my final goodbye took place, to be peaceful. I do not want my son to have to go without toys and beautiful items."
A number of sentimental items have been stolen from the grave or broken since August 2015, as well as various trinkets thrown around the grave site and photos desecrated. Christmas lights were also damaged at the grave during the festive period.
Miss Stevens' son was stillborn on January 2, 2013.
Paul Roberts, spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses after thefts from a child's graveside in Ironbridge.
"Several sentimental ornaments are believed to have been stolen from a grave since December 2015.
"During this time, items at the graveside have been moved and disrupted in a deliberate manner."
