Police were called after a man stopped school pupils in Newport to ask them for money.

The man was stopping pupils outside Burton Borough School in Newport yestreday morning and asking them for spare change.

A number of pupils reported the man to their teachers who then contacted the police.
However, when officers arrived at the school in Audley Avenue the man had gone.
This comes a week after a man tried to get a young schoolgirl to get his car as she walked home from school in the town.
But Pc Lee Thomas of West Mercia Police has reassured parents the two incidents are not believed to be linked.
He said: "We received a call from the Burton Borough just after 9am on Tuesday reporting a male asking schoolchildren for spare change in the Broadway and Shuker Close areas.
"We were only on the High Street at the time and so were there within a couple of minutes but the male had already left the area.
"It appears the incidents had actually taken place a little while before, sometime around 8.30am and we would ask anyone with information about this male to get in touch with our team.

"No threats or demands were made and we do not believe anyone gave the male any money, but several young people felt uneasy by the man's presence and so we would like to identify him and advise against doing anything similar again."
Pc Thomas added: "The man is described as white, older looking, with a grey beard and black framed glasses wearing a black leather jacket.
"We would also like to reassure parents and pupils that we do not believe this report is in any way connected to an incident last week on Chetwynd End where a man tried to encourage a student on their way home to get into his car."
Anyone with information regarding either matter is asked to contact police by calling 101.
