Elizabeth Anne Powell was this week jailed after she stole money amounting to £116,000 over a 10-year period from Morland Utilities based at Halesfield, in Telford.

The 58-year-old, who admitted three counts of theft last month, was sentenced to over four years at Stafford Crown Court.

More than 30 firefighters were forced to retreat from a burning house in Trefonen, near Oswestry this week amid fears it would collapse.

Fortunately the woman who lived inside the house got out of the blazing building unharmed after the fire broke out.

The family of six-year-old Jack Edwards, from Cleobury Mortimer, this week announced that a match for a transplant that is hoped may save his life has been found.

At Lacon Childe School last week where hundreds turned out to be tested to see if they would be a suitable bone marrow donor for Jack.

Telford man Christopher Brooks was jailed this week for four years after pushing a flaming paper through the letterbox of a love rival.

Victim Keiron Thomas and his family were asleep upstairs at the time on July 1 last year – and only the smoke alarm going off prevented "catastrophic consequences", Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.
