Charles Bonser, from Ironbridge, was been awarded for his selflessness and bravery by being give the Binney Medal at the Police Public Bravery Awards and is one of only 70 people in the UK with the medal.

In 2013 Mr Bonser, 48, was driving past a mother and her three-year-old daughter as they walked down Beech Road in Woodside, Telford.

A loose pitbull mastiff was circling the pair and Mr Bonser saw the danger and prevented the dog attacking the girl as it lunged for her, baring its teeth, suffering injuries himself in the process.

Linzi Isaac, 22, was at home in Welshpool with five-year-old son Leon and one-year-old daughter Mia when she suffered an unexpected seizure.

Leon calmly called for an ambulance, and with instructions from a call handler was able to put his mother in the recovery position, check his little sister was safe and unlock the door for paramedics.

Six-year-old Telford youngster Caitlyn Darrall was today hailed a hero for saving the life of her baby sister.

Caitlyn reacted quickly after noticing 22-month-old Maddison was choking while they were playing with a toy money till at the family home.

She had swallowed a penny, which had blocked her windpipe and was preventing her from breathing.

Caitlyn screamed to her mother Laura Hughes for help and turned Maddison onto her front and patted her back.

Her actions dislodged the coin enough for the baby to continue breathing.

A rescue worker reaches Mark Weaver, from Telford, the girl and Tony Roberts, from Shrewsbury, on the cliff at the seaside resort in Wales

Two strangers have become unlikely friends after they came to the aid of a young girl stuck on a cliff in a Bank Holiday weekend seaside drama.

Tony Roberts, from Shrewsbury, and Mark Weaver, from Telford, were both on holiday with their families when they saw the girl trapped at Clarach Bay Beach on the Welsh coast and headed down to rescue her.
