Police investigate spate of Shropshire thefts

Cash was stolen from a pub and brewery and two roadside cafes.

The break-ins were part of a spate of thefts in the south of the county over the past week, which have also seen five bicycles taken from a family home and various tools taken from outbuildings.

Police are calling for anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

Overnight between January 20 and 21, the Plough Inn at Wistanstow, near Craven Arms, was broken into. Cash and keys were stolen and equipment was damaged.

During the same night, Woods Brewery nearby was wer also raided.

On the same morning a shed at a house in Gravel Hill, Ludlow, was broken into during the early hours with five bicycles, including two white Marin mountain bikes, a black Giant TCX bike, a white Bianchi road bike and a black Canondale cyclo-cross bike, stolen.

Sometime in the same period, between 3pm on January 20 and 7.30am the next day, a snack bar in a layby on the A49 in Bromfield, near Ludlow, was broken into, and another roadside cafe was targeted between noon on Saturday and Monday morning at Fellhampton, near Church Stretton.

In the second cafe break-in, two vintage tills were stolen and pictures were smashed.

Over Some time across the weekend a Makita drill and set was also stolen from a garden shed in Rocks Green, Ludlow, and a Bell cement mixer was stolen from a detached garage at Walcot Cottages, Chirbury.

A farm workshop at Curdale, near the A4117 at Cleobury Mortimer, was broken into overnight between Sunday and Monday, with two Stihl chainsaws taken.

Attempted burglaries were also reported at a garage in Rocks Green, Ludlow and a house in Bringewood Road, Ludlow, where a garage was entered but no access to the main house was gained.

Between 2pm and 4pm on Monday a summer house at Abdon, near Craven Arms, was also broken into but no report of stolen items has been received by police to date.
