Ben Winson, 36, of Kingsland, near Leominster, died in his sleep at St Michael's Hospice in Herefordshire on Wednesday.

Mr Winson, an estate agent who worked for Strutt and Parker in Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury and Ludlow during his career, was a keen rugby player and organised a match between two charity sides made up of former teammates at Luctionians Rugby Club, near his home, in November.

The match raised tens of thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Hayley Davies of the Ludlow branch of Strutt and Parker said Mr Winson retained "a huge sense of dignity and humour" while fighting the disease.

Mr Winson leaves wife Claire and three-year-old daughter, Harriet.
