Woman suffers bump to head in Whitchurch assault

A woman suffered a bump to the head when she fell to the ground during an assault in Whitchurch.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault which happened near to the Castle Hill car park between 2am and 2.30am on Sunday.

Police say the 23-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man who pulled at her clothing.

The woman suffered a bump to the head when she fell to the floor, but was otherwise unharmed.

No description is available for the offender, but it is thought he was wearing dark jeans and a zipped jacket.

Detective Rob Loach, of West Mercia Police, said: "We are still investigating the circumstances of this assault and would like to hear from anyone who was in the Castle Hill car park and Pepper Street area at the relevant time and might have seen something significant.

"It does appear to be an isolated incident, but we would advise people to be vigilant and be aware of other people around them."
