Telford woman, 41, appears in court charged with kidnap of nine-week-old baby boy
A Telford woman appeared in court today, charged with kidnapping a nine-week-old baby boy in the town.
Kelly Mahon, 41, of John Broad Avenue, Arleston, appeared before Telford magistrates this morning.
Wearing a cream top, Mahon spoke in a soft voice to confirm her name and address.
The charge read out to the court was that on February 24, she unlawfully and by force or fraud, took or carried away the child against his will.
No application for bail was lodged and Mahon was remanded in custody to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on March 25.
A huge police hunt was sparked on Wednesday afternoon after the baby boy was reported missing from his home in Manor Road, Arleston.
Police have said no further action is being taken against a 53-year-old woman also arrested in connection with the investigation.
The force said the baby boy is "safe and well" with his parents after the incident.
