Car that woman was forced into near Shrewsbury headed in the Bishop's Castle direction, say police

Police say they believe a man who tried to force a woman in a car in Shrewsbury may be in Bishop's Castle.

The woman, believed to be in her late teens or early 20s, was seen being forced into a small blue car, of a similar size to a Vauxhall Corsa or Honda Jazz, at Brookfield, Minsterley, at around 2.50pm.

Witnesses describe seeing a man forcing a woman into a navy blue small car believed to be the same size as a Honda Jazz or Vauxhall Corsa.

The vehicle was also seen to driving off towards Bishop's Castle.

Officers have confirmed that nobody has been reported missing in connection with the incident.

As well as appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the incident they are keen to speak to the woman involved, as they wish to know she is safe.

Inspector Rebecca Bishop said: "One of the lines of enquiry we are following is that the people involved may be known to each other.

"However, we remain concerned for the welfare of the woman and would continue to appeal for anyone with information to contact us.

"We would also appeal for the woman to contact us to let us know if she is alright; even if she doesn't want to make a formal complaint regarding the incident.

"We are keen to know she is safe and well."

The woman is described as white, slim build with brown, curly hair which came to her jaw line. She was wearing denim trousers, a pink padded jacket and orange trainers.

The man who was driving the car is described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 8in, large build with dark short hair and wearing a navy shirt and denim trousers.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact them on 101 quoting incident 405s of February 27.
