Thank you meal for Telford cancer sufferer David, 46
A Telford man who was told he had just months to live twice by doctors will hold a thank you meal for of his supporters.
David Ison will hold the event next week, for anyone who has supported him in his fight against cancer.
David was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011 and told he had six months to live. At the time of his diagnosis David, who was working as a computer programmer in Scotland, moved back home to Shropshire to be with his mother Gillian.
Then, at the start of 2014, the 46-year-old was told for a second time that he had only six months to live.
He took to cycling from his home in Muxton, Telford, to Lilleshall every Sunday morning and taking a picture of the Duke of Sutherland's monument at the top of Lilleshall Hill, which he would post on Facebook.
From this he turned his pictures into a calendar, which reflects the change in seasons – and the fact that David has been able to keep visiting the monument during his illness.
All the money made from the calendar will go to Severn Hospice, as he has been receiving treatment from the hospice's day centre.
David said: "I am just so grateful for everyone's support and I just want to say thank you.
"The event is for anyone who has supported me and helped, or even sold or brought my calendar, as it means a lot to me."
Now he plans to thank some of those who has sold the calendar or bought the calendar with a meal.
The meal will be held at Muxton Community Centre.
David set himself a target of selling 1,000 calendars at £7.50 each, which will raise £5,000 for the hospice once the production costs are covered.
The calendar is available from www.hopeinspireenjoy.org or in Newport from Gourmet Pasty Shop in St Mary's Street, Nova Bikes in The Square, Linden Hall Surgery in Station Road.
It is also available in Muxton from Linden Hall Surgery in Saltwells Drive and Premier Price Point in Fieldhouse Drive, and from The Redhouse in Lilleshall.
