Shropshire gin finally hits the shelves after battle at High Court over name

Bottoms up! It has taken two-and-a-half years of research and development and been the subject of a high court battle, but a new premium gin has now been launched by a Shropshire entrepreneur.

Businessman JJ Lawrence is launching the Shropshire Gin Company and its first premium spirit, Tiger Gin.

It will be sold to the trade initially through Addison Wines in Telford and Telford Wines, and to the public and online through Moonshine and Fuggles in Ironbridge. #

It will also be stocked by Shrewsbury restaurants The Peach Tree, Momo No Ki and Havana Republic. JJ said he wanted to create the 'world's best tasting gin'.

But its development hasn't been without challenges, with Heineken Asia Pacific PTE Ltd challenging the trade marking of Tiger Gin, which they claimed was too similar to their Tiger Beer.

It's a battle that went all the way to the high court, finally being resolved in JJ's favour.
