The boy, who is a member of Mold Rugby Club, was taken to hospital as a precaution on Sunday after suffering neck injuries during a match in Whitchurch and was discharged on the same day.

Steve Thelwell, Whitchurch Rugby Club's junior chairman, said: "He was taken to hospital as a precaution on advice of the paramedics.

"However he was home that night and doing fine which is good news."

Paramedics along with the Midlands Air Ambulance were called to Whitchurch Rugby Club at about 11.40am on Sunday.

He was put in a neck collar and placed on a spinal board and taken by air ambulance to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
