The fireplace in the lounge area will be opened up and improved with a log burner, and the bar area will also have a new fireplace with wood burning stove. The kitchen will be refitted with new equipment and toilets will also be refurbished while the car park is repaired and relined.

Peter Bland and Ezzy Clifford, who have 26 years' experience in the industry, will run the pub following the revamp after previous landlords left in February.

Mr Bland, said: "Myself, Ezzy and our family are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new to the new-look Red Barn when we reopen

"As well the aesthetic changes to the pub we are making some exciting improvements to our food and drink offer too. We want to make sure that we have something for everyone and in addition to a large beer garden we can also offer function facilities for all occasions and we will have regular theme nights.

"We could see the potential to transform The Red Barn into a fantastic and welcoming community pub and we're delighted to be given the opportunity to work with Punch on this major investment."

The pub will reopen from 12 noon on April 14 and will come with the addition of new jobs.

Aimee Moss, Punch's openings manager said: "Our main priority was to restore The Red Barn to its rightful place at the heart of the community, with a clear focus on delivering a great pub experience for local people.

"We're confident that our customers will be delighted with the refurbishment, it's still a true family-friendly, local pub with a strong food and drink offer together with a regular calendar of events to bring the community together."
