Van driver, 31, arrested after Whitchurch crash
A 31-year-old van driver was arrested today following a crash between a car and van in Whitchurch.
The man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit, following the crash which happened shortly before 8am outside the town's Smithfield Shopping Centre.
A 24-year-old man, believed to be the driver of the car involved, was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford as a precaution.
Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "It happened outside Home Bargains at 7.52am.
"It came into us as a car versus a van. We sent a rapid response vehicle inside four minutes as well as an ambulance.
"One patient, a 24-year-old male driver of the car, had a bit of discomfort in his chest from his seatbelt. He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital as a precaution."
