The pitches are now open and can be used by the club. Training and games had been suspended for almost a month following the accident.

However, a probe into the February 28 incident is still being carried out by Shropshire Council.

Karen Collier, Shropshire Council's operations manager, health and community protection, said: "Shropshire Council's public protection team is continuing to investigate the incident.

"The posts have all been removed, and Shropshire Council has contacted the club to confirm that they can resume use of the pitches."

The council added: "We are not going to say any more, due to the investigation being ongoing. The Health and Safety Executive have no ongoing involvement. Shropshire Council does not own or lease the land."

Uprights and crossbars at the club ground at Sundorne Castle have been removed.

The investigation relates to an incident in which a man suffered serious injuries after a goal post fell on him as he watched a friendly U11 match between Oswestry Eagles and Shrewsbury.

The man, believed to be the father of one of the Oswestry players, was treated pitchside by first aiders and then taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for scans and further care. He is now recovering at home.
