Shoppers and staff were told to leave the supermarket when fire alarms sounded at around 11am today.
Firefighters were called to the Telford superstore in Malinsgate and the evacuees gathered outside while the 'fire' was investigated.
A crew from Telford responded but Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was a false alarm. The cause was down to burnt toast in the staff canteen.
A video posted on the Telford Live Facebook page showed a fire engine parked in front of the store while shoppers sheltered from the wet weather.
Asda currently evacuated due to fire alarm. No sign of smoke. Fire service here. Shopping centre.
