Drink-drive restaurant licensee from Shropshire is banned from the road
The licensee of a bar and restaurant has been banned from driving for 36 months. Terence Gall, from Brockton, near Shifnal, was convicted of drink-driving for the second time in three years.
Gall, the licensee of the 3 Hammers Bar & Bistro, in Old Stafford Road, Coven, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court.
Mr Adam Warner, prosecuting, said 68-year-old Gall was stopped by police on March 28.
Officers saw him driving out of the car park of the Red Lion Inn, in Six Ashes Road, Bobbington. The court heard he had been driving a VW Touareg and failed a roadside breath test after being stopped.
He was taken to the police station and was found to be over the drink-drive limit.
His breath test gave a reading of 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The current legal limit is 35.
Mr Warner added: "It appears he was compliant in interview."
He told the court Gall had been in court before for drink driving and had received an 18-month driving ban when he was convicted of a similar offence in 2013.
Gall, of Haven Hills Road, Brockton, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle while over the drink-drive limit.
Mr Philip Trotter, representing Gall, told the court that Gall had "foolishly" got behind the wheel of his car after having a drink.
But he said that Gall was a "decent" man who regretted his actions
Mr Trotter said the defendant had fully co-operated with police and that he had worked all of his life.
Magistrates disqualified Gall from driving for 36 months on Monday.
He was also fined £300 and told to pay £135 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
