The council is asking road users, pedestrians and cyclists to give feedback via Twitter on the new layout.

Previously the box road was a one way system designed for cars, meaning speeds were high and facilities for pedestrians and cyclists were minimal.

The scheme to make the box road two way included the installation of roundabouts on all corners of the box road.

A low rise central reservation has also been installed around the length of the box road and the roads have been resurfaced as part of the process.

Footpaths on either side have new paving installed to create an urban street feel and the scheme also features new landscaping including trees and new lighting to create boulevards.

Councillor Angela McClements, cabinet member for communities, regeneration and transport, said: "This work to the box road has transformed the look and feel of arrival into the town centre, complementing the major development taking place in the area.

"Now we want local people who are using the new layout to join in and let us know their views by taking to Twitter @telfordwrekin using the hashtag #telfordboxroad.

"Whether you're a driver, cyclist or pedestrian, we want to know what you think."

The box road project, for which work began in Autumn 2013 and concluded in March 2015, was funded through the Department for Transport's Local Sustainable Transport Fund, as well as European Regional Development Funding for improvements specifically along Coach Central.

The scheme was needed to transform the urban character of Telford Town Centre, lowering speed, reducing congestion and improving pedestrian and cycling links, in conjunction with the £250 Southwater development, new ASDA and the £200m Telford Shopping Centre masterplan.
