A warrant was issued to search a flat in Sycamore Close after West Mercia Police received intelligence that drugs were suspected to be on the premises.

Sergeant Adrian Woolley, of the force's south Shropshire safer neighbourhood team, said yesterday's raid was successful, but the tenant of the flat had yet to be interviewed.

He said: "We went through the door at about 7.40am. Inside the flat was evidence of drug use and equipment used to smoke cannabis, such as bongs.

"We seized what I think is about £80 of cannabis. It was in the form of cannabis bush ground up in one box, and in the kitchen there was a plastic container with cannabis buds inside. We also seized cash and financial information."

But he said the female occupant of the flat was not home at the time of the raid.

"She will be spoken to in due course, and the police will be sharing information with the housing company, Stonewater, which may have an effect on her tenancy," said Sergeant Woolley.

He said special constables had helped regular police in conducting the raid.
