Lauren Hughes, 16, from Shifnal, is trying to raise as much money as possible for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in hopes of finding a cure for the illness which her mother suffers from.

Lauren, a GCSE pupil at Idsall School, raised £1,050 from her skydive on April 8 and a further £1,016 from a mufti day held at her school.

She was just seven when mum Anne, 45, was diagnosed with MS and she said that the illness has been a big part of her life.

Mrs Hughes said: "All of this money has gone to the MS Society.

"We would like to thank everyone for their generous support."

Plucky Lauren had never been in a plane before her jump. She completed the jump as a tandem skydive in which she was strapped to her instructor.

She has also been raising money through collections at local supermarkets. To add to her fundraising visit www.justgiving.com/Lauren-Hughes-Jump
