Officers from West Mercia Police have increased patrols in Minsterley, particularly in the area around the village hall and Callow Crescent after receiving reports from members of the public of drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Tackling drugs and drug-related crime is a high priority and the area's safer neighbourhood team is working with a range of agencies to help tackle the issue."

The matter will be discussed at the next meeting of Minsterley Parish Council.

Norman Allen, parish councillor for Minsterley, said: "There has always been a degree of drug use around the village hall but no more than in other villages. More than that I can't really say."

Anyone with any concerns about drug dealing in the area or who have information to report, should call 101 to speak to the Shrewsbury Rural North safer neighbourhood team, dial 999 in an emergency or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to report information anonymously.
