Over a dozen dead lambs found dumped in Shropshire fields
More than a dozen dead lambs have been found dumped in fields near Shropshire.
The animals were discovered at two separate rural locations between Market Drayton and Newport in the last fortnight.
Seven animals were found in a ditch in Shay Lane, Forton. Six more were recovered from a brook in Horsley Lane, Eccleshall. The animals' ear tags had been removed in both cases, making it impossible to find the owner.
RSPCA spokeswoman Rachel Butler said: "This is a callous way for an animal's body to be dumped and we are naturally concerned about how these lambs died."
Councillor Frank Finlay, cabinet member for environment and health at Stafford Council, said: "Dumping dead animals like this is clearly unacceptable. The lambs' ear tags had been removed so it's not possible to trace the owner at this time.
"We are liaising with the police and the RSPCA."
The animals were found in Forton a fortnight ago and in Eccleshall last Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 referencing incident 743 of May 4.
