Telford care home told to make improvements
A Telford care home has been judged as "requiring improvement" by inspectors.
Though The Priory Nursing and Residential Home, in Wellington, has been rated "good" for the caring nature of staff, the Care Quality Commission has said standards must rise.
The report criticised leadership at the home, but said inspectors felt staff were kind and caring and they were given options for their care and support.
The report says: "People told us they felt safe at the service and that the staff treated them well.
"People did however tell us they had to wait for assistance from staff on some occasions.
"People's consent was not always sought and staff did not always understand people's rights in respect of decision making.
"They told us that they had confidence in the ability of the staff that cared for them but we found some staff needed updates in core areas of skill and knowledge.
"People we spoke with were satisfied with the service they received.

"People felt able to complain and were confident any issues they raised would be listened to and resolved.
"Systems were in place to capture and review people's experiences, but systems to monitor risks to people were not always robust, and staff felt they lacked direction due to the lack of consistent clinical leadership.
"People said they could approach management and share their views.
"Not all staff were confident that they were well supported by management however."
Yvonne Griffith, manager of the home, said she was unable to comment on the report before she had filed a return report to the CQC but would be speaking about the findings at a later date.
In the past week the CQC has published a further 73 reports on the quality of care provided by adult social care services across the central region, of which Shropshire is part.
Following recent inspections, 53 care homes and homecare agencies have been rated as good, 18 have been rated as requires improvement, one was rated inadequate and one was rated outstanding.
Under CQC's new programme of inspections, all of England's adult social care services are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
