Work at the Shawbirch and Clock Tower roundabouts will start in June as part of an overall £17 million project involving six roundabouts in the borough.

Telford & Wrekin Council announced that major roadworks will begin at the Shawbirch roundabout on June 6 and Clock Tower Roundabout in Donnington on June 20 as part of their Growth Point scheme.

The work will involve widening the carriageway on approaches and exits and police warn there may be significant delays for motorists.

The work on the Clock Tower roundabout may cause additional delays for people heading to or from Newport as it a major access route between the two towns.

Pc Lee Thomas, of West Mercia Police said: "It is also likely that Wellington Road through Muxton and Richards Road through The Humbers will see increased traffic volume as commuters try and find an alternative route.

"Our advice is to please allow extra time for journeys and follow all diversion signage placed to ensure traffic continues to flow as freely as is possible during the duration of the works."

Similar works are planned to begin at Trench Lock interchange and Ketley Brook roundabout in October with works also planned in for Randlay Interchange slip roads (A442/Eastern Primary), Hall Park Way and Rampart Way.
