Murder probe police widen their search across farmland near Oswestry
Police have widened their search across Shropshire farmland as part of an on-going murder investigation.
The extensive search of a smallholding in Henlle Lane on the edge of Gobowen, near Oswestry, was continuing today as detectives and forensics experts also started examining land at Nant-y-Ffrith on the outskirts of Bwlchgwyn, near Wrexham.
North Wales Police said it is in connection with what is believed to be an historic crime.
According to detectives, the search is expected to last for "several days".
On Wednesday, police and military personnel spent much of the day and worked into the evening at the farmland, next to a caravan park, as part of the search, which was extended to Bwlchgwyn yesterday.
North Wales Police said the activity is part of an on-going investigation following recent information that an unidentified man has been murdered and disposed of on the outskirts of Wrexham.
Superintendent Sian Beck, North Wales Police area commander for Wrexham, said: "This morning police search team specialists, forensic experts and detectives have commenced an examination and search of land at Bwlchgwyn.
"A methodical and detailed search will be undertaken and may continue for several days.
"This search is linked to a number of searches conducted over the last few days in the Wrexham and Gobowen area and is believed to be linked to an historic murder."
Nobody has been arrested in connection with the investigation.
