A49 closed at Craven Arms after 'serious' motorbike crash

Part of the A49 was shut for nearly five hours after a serious accident involving two motorcycles.

The busy road was closed off by police at Craven Arms. The accident happened at around 10.30am on Sunday.

The road was closed in both directions between the B4368 and the A4113 at Bromfield. It was not reopened to traffic until shortly before 3pm.

Highways England described the crash as serious and traffic was being diverted locally.

No further information was given about the condition of the motorcyclists. Both were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are believed to be serious.

A West Mercia Police spokeswoman said: "There was a road traffic collision on the road involving two motorcycles. No further information is being released at this stage."
