Arriva said it was pleased members of the Unite union, who were set to go on strike on Monday after problems negotiating with the bus company, had withdrawn the plans.

A new offer meant that the industrial action was cancelled on Thursday afternoon and travel will not be disrupted.

Eve Ginever, public relations manager for the firm, said: "Following our negotiations with the Unite representatives at Telford, we are pleased to confirm that any industrial action planned for next Monday, has been called-off.

"Our customers can expect all of our local routes to continue to run as normal."

The offer, which Unite representatives say retains terms and conditions which they did not want to surrender, will be put to a vote.

If Telford drivers refuse the offer, they may again choose to take action.
