Your chance to name new sculpture at Shrewsbury recycling centre
A one-of-a-kind "upcycled" art sculpture has just been completed at the entrance to Shrewsbury's Household Recycling Centre.
And in celebration of its installation at the Battlefield Enterprise Park, people can enter a competition to name it.
The sculpture, which is said to reflect the importance of recycling and the Battle of Shrewsbury, was designed and created by artist Jessica Jackson and engineer specialist Simon Meiklejohn.
The Battlefield site witnessed the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury when Lancastrian King, Henry IV, confronted a rebel army led by Henry 'Harry Hotspur' Percy from Northumberland. It was the first battle on English soil where opposing armies first faced each other with long-bows.
Pupils from Harlescott Primary School were also involved in the project from the start and have visited it now it has been installed on site. Youngsters from their art class worked alongside Jessica to help with the design of the sculpture.
Steve Mitchell, director for Veolia, said: "We are thrilled to see the finished piece of artwork. It has been our pleasure to have had the opportunity to commission Jessica and Simon to produce this piece of work and wonderful to know that many of the materials used began life in Shropshire.
"All that's needed now to complete the sculpture is the right name. That's why we are inviting people to take this one-off opportunity to name this special piece of work."

Entries should be received no later than July 21.
