Christine Samuel, a spokeswoman for the site, said that it had been broken into and that the travellers had been aggressive to members of staff.

Police were called shortly after and continued to monitor the site into this morning.

At about midday today the travellers moved on.

Inspector Russell Dealtry, of West Mercia Police, said: "We have received a number of calls from members of the public reporting travellers arriving at a business premises in Halesfield in Telford.

"When officers initially attended the scene no offences were identified. Local officers were present at the scene this morning and are patrolling the area.

"Private bailiffs obtained an eviction notice contrary to the Public Order Act 1994 which has been served upon the occupants of the encampment.

"The travellers had left the business premises by about 11.30am."

Christine Samuel said: "We couldn't use our car park this morning and had to park on the roadside. People were concerned about their safety, but we just said to keep their distance from the travellers.

"We were there until 11.30pm yesterday, and they were getting quite aggressive. We had guys with forklift trucks come in and remove anything of value.

"We arranged a 24-hour security guard to come out and watch the site and he didn't report anything more during the night."

VA Technology, which designs and manufactures investment casting equipment, has 84 employees based at its Halesfield site.
