Man's death ruled an accident after choking on food

The sister of a man found dead in an alley after choking on a piece of food believes he was trying to get medical help.

Simon Reeves was found dead in the alley near to a medical centre in Broseley on March 7.

The inquest into his death took place at Shirehall, in Shrewsbury.

The hearing was told the 46-year-old, of Southfield Road, Much Wenlock, had been drinking at a pub and had ordered some food on March 6.

He was seen leaving minutes later clutching a tissue to his face.

The following day Mr Reeves had been found outside the medical practice.

No injuries were found but a white tissue with blood on it was close by. Dr Catherine Harrison, pathologist, who carried out a post mortem on Mr Reeves gave the cause of death as choking.

Mr Reeves' sister Jo Randall, who attended the hearing, said she believed her brother had left the pub to try and find a doctor.

At the inquest John Ellery, coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, concluded that Mr Reeves death had been accidental.
