The road was closed at Shakeford after the crash on July 26.

The crash caused major damage to the property which had to be demolished, and initial plans to remove the building brick by brick due to the conservation of the property meant that the road was anticipated to remain closed until mid-August.

However, work to demolish the whole of the damaged property immediately was agreed on August 4 as it continued to pose a serious risk to contractors and members of the public - this meant work could be done ahead of schedule.

Councillor Simon Jones Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport said: "I'm really pleased that the A41 is now open to traffic. Due to extensive work by council officers and contractors the road has reopened ahead schedule.

"We appreciate that the temporary closure of this road has caused disruption for many who live and travel in the local area, but it had to be done to allow work to take place as quickly and safely as possible.

"I would like to thank everyone who has worked tirelessly to ensure that the work carried out have been as done as effectively and efficiently as possible – they should be commended for their work."
