Shropshire weather: Heatwave leaves bees buzzing

It's great weather for bees – but not so good for humans trying to sleep.

This spectacular image was taken in Whitchurch this week by 17-year-old Shropshire Star reader Adam Salisbury, as the region basks in a hot spell to mark the official start of autumn.

Shropshire was today approaching 80F, thanks to warm air rising from Europe.

But that has also brought record night-time temperatures, barely dropping below 19C (66F) overnight.
