Watch: Telford school pupils become animation stars
A Telford school has unveiled a new film featuring animated characters based on real pupils to show what it has to offer.
It comes after The Old Hall School in Wellington, Telford, was visited by a team from the Independent Schools Inspectorate earlier this year and was given an outstanding report.
The inspectors praised the school with an excellent grading, the highest award it gives, for the quality of pupils' achievements and learning, the effectiveness of governance, leadership and management and the quality of development.
Headmaster Martin Stott said he wanted to create a short film to highlight what the school, in Stanley Road, has to offer and celebrate its recent success.
He said: "We are very proud to have created an extremely happy learning environment here at the Old Hall School, where our pupils are flourishing in all areas and I thought it was time to create a film to give people a look inside the school."
A film company, based in Loughborough and London, spent several days at the school filming pupils and staff in action.
A selection of the shots were used to create a collection of animated characters who help to introduce different sections of the film based on a theme of 'the old has never looked so new' at The Old Hall School.
The film, which can be viewed on the school's website, also features sweeping shots of the school grounds, swimming pool and classrooms.
Mr Stott said: "The film has generated a great deal of excitement for staff, pupils and parents alike.
"One of the real highlights of the project was how much pupils gained from seeing the process of making a film up close.
"They saw first hand the attention to detail it takes to produce a good film and how it can take several attempts to get something right but the results are worth the effort.
"That's the message we try to get across every day and it was wonderful to see the pupils come to understand the process in such a positive way.
"This week we have also welcomed our new reception children and they all look so excited to be starting this new chapter, making new friends and exploring all kinds of new opportunities.
"I know how important a decision it is for parents when it comes to choosing the school where their child will start their educational journey and we felt a film would be another way to take a closer look at our school before actually visiting."
The film was officially released earlier this week after a preview at the school on Monday.
It has since been viewed more than 8,000 times.
