Aston Villa fans were planning to all stand up together to pay tribute to Jack Edwards, from Cleobury Mortimer, seven minutes into their Championship clash with Newcastle United.

Jack lost his battle with the disease at the end of last month.

Supporters at Villa Park planned the mark of respect on seven minutes into the match, which kicks off at 5.30pm.

Seven-year-old Jack was an avid Villa fan and was visited by heroes Tommy Elphick and Ross McCormack just hours before he died on August 24.

Jack, who was first diagnosed with the disease when he was just three years old, attended Cleobury Mortimer Primary School and saw a groundswell of support from people across the region, dubbed Jack's Army, who arranged a succession of fundraising events over the past couple of years.

Birmingham City supporters plan to follow Villa fans at St Andrew's in the coming weeks, most likely during the fixture with Preston.
