Children's author at Albrighton school for National Grandparent's Day,
Pre-school children enjoyed a book reading with an author, as part of a celebration of grandparents.
To mark National Grandparent's Day, author Lee Sterrey was at Birchfield Prepcare Day Nursery in Albrighton to give an exclusive book reading of her adventure, The Buttercup Game.
The story tries to explain issues of dementia to young children, following the story of rabbit who goes to visit his grandmother.
Pre-school children, aged three to four, and reception children, aged 4-5 all took part, receiving a signed copy of the book at the end of the day.
Penny Shevyn, nursery manager, said: "The children really did enjoy it.
"There is a little boy in the class whose great-grandmother is suffering with dementia and this story really looks at that in a nice way, without using the word dementia, and explains how older people can forget things.
"Lee really captured the children's attention.
"We've got lots of activities to do, the author actually has a whole set of books and a collection of those will be going into our library so children can revist them in the future."
National Grandparents Day is actually held on October 2, and later this week, the nursery will invite in grandparents for tea and cake on another day to celebrate them.
Birchfield will also be holding an open day on tomorrowe which will be open to the public for people to look round the school and nursery where a number of activities will be taking place.
