The new modern-design store on Lower Galdeford, has been given planning permission despite concerns from Ludlow Town Council that it will be too big and out of keeping with the area.

The plans by Morris Bufton were revised three times before being approved. However, they have only been passed with a set of conditions which include that deliveries and construction work should only take place between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

The building must be cedar clad and Shropshire Council planning officers have also been given delegated powers to reduce the height of railings planned around the store, and to ensure the use of "appropriate surfaces" in building the store.

The store is planned opposite the Smithfield car park, between the town's telephone exchange and the former South Shropshire Glass building, on a main route from the A49 bypass to the town centre.
