Oswestry Cricket Club goes the full Monty for charity match

A team of cricketing celebrities will be coming to Shropshire as part of a charity fundraiser.

The Lashings All Stars will face Oswestry Cricket Club in a 20 overs game at the club's Morda Road ground.

Spin bowler Monty Panesar, Courtney Walsh, Gordon Greenidge and Ryan Sidebottom will appear alongside Henry Blofeld, who is expected to commentate on the game on August 31.

Young cricketers will get the chance to be coached by the stars when they arrive in Oswestry before a charity lunch for 250 guests.

The day will finish with a T20 game against an Oswestry XI. The stars will stay behind to chat to fans when the match finishes.

Club secretary Chris Wiseman said the it is a coup to bring The Lashings to the town.
