Flooding in Shropshire: Trains cancelled and county still on flood alert as river levels rise after heavy rain
Trains have been cancelled, roads blocked and river levels have risen after a deluge of rain in the wake of Storm Angus.
There were no trains early this morning between Shrewsbury and Hereford due to flooding at Craven Arms. The line was closed last night leaving passengers with long waits.
This morning some trains are running but Arriva Trains Wales is warning there could be delays of up to an hour.
People who live near the River Corve in Ludlow tweeted us pictures of the river levels rising close to their houses.
Some residents also had concerns about the river levels in Shrewsbury.
Passengers on board a ferry in the Irish Sea were forced to spend the night in howling gales off the Welsh coast after it was deemed too dangerous to attempt to dock, while hundreds of homes were left without power in the North East.
There were also reports of stranded motorists needing rescue by emergency services from Devon and Cornwall to Tyne and Wear, while the deluge closed roads and schools, homes flooded, and railway lines were engulfed in the wake of Storm Angus.
A total of 75 flood warnings commanding immediate action were issued to parts of the North West, North East, South West, Midland and East Anglia on Tuesday morning along with 217 flood alerts across the country.
