The Midcounties Co-operative has re-opened its food store and forecourt in Cleobury Mortimer following a rebuilding project.

Store manager Elliott Cook said: "It's great to be able to welcome shoppers to our new Cleobury Mortimer store, which not only better meets the needs of our members and customers, but is also creating a host of new jobs."

The new development replaces the store and forecourt which was previously on the site, but was demolished last year. Built using the latest approaches to environmentally-friendly construction, the store has a number of green features including LED lighting and energy efficient chillers.

Any food waste is also broken down to produce renewable energy through anaerobic digestion, helping to further reduce environmental impact.

"With a revamped product range and an improved forecourt, together with our intensive effort to reduce negative impacts on the environment, we're pleased to unveil the new concept and look forward to welcoming both local residents and those passing through in the coming months," said Mr Cook.

An opening day event saw a £250 donation handed over to the Cleobury Mortimer and District First Responders group as part of the Midcounties Co-operative's commitment to supporting local good causes.
